Zertuche Construction Completes Salamander Play Zone at North Central Park
The Salamander Play Zone at North Central Park in Laredo, TX, constructed by Zertuche Construction.
Zertuche Construction is proud to have served as the general contractor for the Salamander Play Zone, Laredo's newest inclusive playground, which opened to the public on May 29, 2026, at North Central Park.
In partnership with Slay Architecture, Zertuche Construction delivered Phase II of the North Central Park Playground Project — a community-driven effort nearly a decade in the making. The finished space was built to meet ADA standards throughout, incorporating specialized playground equipment, sensory and musical features, synthetic turf, permanent shade structures, sand and water play areas, and shaded gathering spaces. Every element was selected and constructed with accessibility at the forefront, ensuring children of all abilities have a place to play.
The project carries special meaning for the Laredo community. Its origins trace back to 2019, when a group of Trautmann Middle School robotics students identified a gap in the city's recreational offerings and advocated for a space where no child would be left on the sidelines. Years of community support, private investment, and city commitment turned that student vision into a finished facility.
Zertuche Construction is grateful to have contributed to a project that will serve Laredo families for generations to come.
