Zertuche Construction is proud to partner with the City of Laredo on a transformative new development—the Lafayette Tiny Homes Project, officially launched with a groundbreaking ceremony on August 22, 2024, at 2200 Lafayette Street. Once completed, the project will deliver nine 400-square-foot studio units designed to serve Laredo residents experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

Backed by funding from the HOME Investment Partnerships Program and the HOME American Rescue Plan, this initiative represents a powerful step toward providing not just shelter—but stability, dignity, and a sense of belonging.

Joined by U.S. Rep. Henry Cuellar and Laredo Community Development Director Tina Martinez, local and federal leaders gathered to mark the start of construction and reaffirm their commitment to accessible, affordable housing. “Having a home is about stability, security, and dignity,” said Cuellar during the event, highlighting the human impact behind each unit.

As the builder entrusted with Phase 1, Zertuche Construction is committed to ensuring each home is energy-efficient, functional, and welcoming—complete with essential utilities, air conditioning, and furnished appliances.

This groundbreaking marks more than the start of a construction project. It signals the beginning of long-term change, and we’re honored to help lay that foundation—one tiny home at a time.
